Simulator for Advanced Air Mobility

Library of Challenges

Short description: Advanced Air Mobility is a major disruptor to the aviation industry and a major enabler for green flights using eVTOL (i.e. drone technology). As this is a new emerging technology with no previous history Municipalities and infrastructure owners have no way of visualising its impact.

Market potential: According to the European DACUS research project, the need for landing platforms will be one per 3000 inhabitants. In Sweden alone there are 290 municipalities that need city planning support.

Timing: The first commercially operated eVTOL will be certified in 2023-2024. No landing infrastructure is available and solution is needed now for cities to be able to plan their airspace and infrastructure.

Desired result: A visual demonstrator to show how an eVTOL can fly in the lower airspace and land on Vertiports. This tool will enable cities to provide a preliminary design of a desired airspace as input to an airspace design process.

Information on challenge owner: Small SME (10-49 staff).

Market presence of challenge owner: Active in several countries.
