Short description: The next break through in urban transportation will most likely be transportation by electrical Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles. Much technology needed is in place, but a low cost, safe and secure guiding system for the landing phase (last 50-100m of flight descent) is missing.

Market potential: According to the European DACUS research project, the need for landing platforms will be one per 3000 inhabitants. The potential is a simple extrapolation of population and the pace of expansion.

Timing: The first commercially operated eVTOL will be certified in 2023-2024. A landing aid will be needed as soon as flights in darkness and bad weather will be performed. Estimated from 2026 and onwards.

Desired result: A proof of concept for a guidance system possible to further develop into a product. Aspects as future certifications from radio perspective, safety perspective and security perspective must be addressed.
