Carports that enable charging EVs using solar as energy source

Library of Challenges

Short description: There is a race going on in terms of installing EV chargers. This however requires a lot of infrastructure in terms of grid, which however never has been designed for such economy. There’s enough grid capacity in the cities but never ever anymore enough in rural areas.

Market potential: There are 100,000s of parking lots in each city. If each of those would be used to generate also energy, we would not only base our economy on renewables but have much higher change to reach NetZero.

Timing: Solar solutions are super mature, the timing is perfect. Just sustainable materials and design have to be combined to generate energy for EVs locally.

Desired result: We’re looking for a) materials sustainable materials that replace metals in the structures b) designs that fit into the urban plans c) technical solutions that we can’t think of right now but would provide new additional value.
